Police in the Federal Capital Territory said they have begun investigating reports that a young lady, Greatness Olorunfemi, who was a victim of ‘one-chance’ robbery syndicate in Abuja, died after medical personnel at Maitama General Hospital allegedly refused to attend to her for lack of a police report.
The incident is said to have occurred on September 28.
Olorunfemi, a community developer and member of the Young African Leaders Initiative Network (YALI), was reportedly pushed out of a moving vehicle by the syndicate.
It was gathered that Olorunfemi was taken to Maitama General Hospital which requested police report before treating her.
A video of her body in a vehicle parked at the entrance of the locked emergency unit has been shared multiple times on social media.
Members of the public have reacted to the incident with outrage on social media.

Speaking on the matter, YALI Network Abuja coordinator Moyosoluwa Oladayo said they called on the FCT minister Nyesom Wike and relevant security agencies to thoroughly investigate and ensure that the culprits face the full force of the law.
She said, “There’s a viral video of her when she was thrown out of the vehicle. She was unconscious and was reportedly taken to Maitama General Hospital where they kept asking for a police report till she gave up 20 minutes later.”
Oladayo said YALI Network will partner with the police to probe the Maitama General Hospital for violating the National Health Act of 2014, which prohibits refusal of emergency medical treatment for any reason.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Abuja branch, where the deceased was a member, also condemned the manner of her death and called for investigation.
Spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh told PUNCH on Saturday that the case was being investigated.
