Pastor of the House on the Rock Church Abuja, Uche Aigbe, has been arrested by the Intelligence Response Team, Force Intelligence Bureau, Garki, for wielding an AK-47 while delivering his sermon yesterday, February 12.

The Police had earlier said it would commence investigation following the viral video of Pastor Uche Aigbe, flaunting an AK-47 while on pulpit last Sunday, saying: “it’s time to defend the faith with guns.”

Aigbe yesterday stormed his church with an AK-47 rifle daggling on the hoister of his trousers.

It was gathered that the Pastor borrowed the gun of one Inspector Musa Audu, a security detail at the church.

It was also gathered that the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Command, Sadiq Abubakar, recommended to the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, for the dismissal of Inspector Audu.

In the video showing Pastor Uche Aigbe with a gun, the tensed congregants watched him mount the pulpit to deliver his sermon. He then used the gun to illustrate a point during the sermon.

Reacting to the incident, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the police would investigate the clergyman.

The police spokesman said Aigbe lacked the right to bear an AK-47 rifle.

Adejobi on Twitter said: “I have forwarded to the CP FCT to act, please.  But if it’s true, the pastor will have a case to answer. AK47?? It falls under prohibited Firearms in Nigeria, and no one bears it except an officer of the law, and not all of them have the right, selected security operatives, but no individual has the right to bear it.

“The FCT police command will investigate it, I trust the new CP FCT, CP Sadiq… it’s shocking.”
