Agba Jalingo, publisher of Cross River Watch, an online newspaper, has been arrested by the Police in Lagos.

Friends of Jalingo said the police intend taking him to Uyo, the Cross River State capital by road, ignoring Jalingo’s protest that road trip takes more than 10 hours.

The police invitation to Jalingo dated August 14 stated that his name was mentioned in a report in the Cross River Watch involving the Cross River Microfinance Bank which is capable of causing the breach of peace in the state.

Jalingo’s friends claimed that he had reached an agreement with the police to submit himself to them on August 26 as against the August 19 date which the police demanded that he appeared before a deputy commissioner in the State Criminal Investigation Department.

His friends said he was being held at the Federal SARS, Ikoyi GRA and is being prepared to be transported to Calabar tomorrow (Friday, August 23 morning).
