Police Arrest 4 Yahoo Boys For killing Uzoma in Ogun

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested four suspected internet fraudsters over the murder of a 20-year old man, Alexander Uzoma.

Uzoma was initially said to be missing but later said to have died at the hands of the suspects, Babatunde Owoseni, Azeez Oyebanji, Ayobami Adesina and Balogun Sulaiman, who allegedly dumped his body on Kuto Bridge in Abeokuta.

The suspects were arrested after Uzoma’s mother, Ogechi Alexander, complained at Adigbe divisional police headquarters that her son left home on November 20, 2021 but did not return.

Police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident yesterday in a statement, adding that the suspects claimed the 20-year-old visited them to learn how to defraud people using the internet.

According to Oyeyemi, the DSP Nurudeen AbdulGafar led Modus Operandi section, embarked on intelligence and technical investigation which led to identification of one Babatunde Owoseni as the person who was last seen with the victim, and he was promptly arrested. Babatunde Owoseni also led the police to the other three suspects.

Oyeyemi added that the suspects further said all five of them ate together and took a substance called Colorado, after which they fell asleep but only Uzoma did not wake up.

The suspects later evacuated the body to the bridge and left it there. It was later removed by the state health workers and buried as unknown corpse. Preliminary investigation revealed that there was a mark of violence on the head of the deceased as shown in the picture taken by the health workers before it was buried.

“Meanwhile, the Ogun State commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the investigating team to expedite action on the investigation and charge the case to court as soon as possible,” Oyeyemi explained.
