The Nigeria Police Force has announced the dismissal of a constable, Liyomo Okoi, effective today, August 8.
Okoi was recently caught in a viral video flogging a civilian with a cutlass in Cross River State.
The police authorities last week announced that Okoi was arrested and undergoing orderly room trial.
Force public relations officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi has now announced the decision of the orderly room trial, which is the dismissal of Okoi from the force.

In a tweet on his twitter handle, Adejobi said: “GROSS MISCONDUCT: NPF has dismissed PC LIYOMO OKOI, Force No 524503,attached to Ekori Divisional Police Headquarters, Cross River State, who was captured in a video that went viral on 31st July, 2022, where he was flogging a civilian with cutlass, with effect from today 8th August, 2022. He is ceased to be a member of the NPF, and we urge members of the public not to have any official dealings or transactions with him henceforth. We will always do the needful to sanitise the NPF and uphold the standards and values of the Nigeria Police Force. Thanks.”
