Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has been denied access to the venue of his scheduled press conference on the state-of-the-nation.
The Nigeria Police Force on Monday, August 19, 2019, barricaded the venue, 46 Ibijoke Street, Oluyole bustop Oregun, with their vehicles and men, thereby preventing the Nobel Laureate and other persons scheduled to speak at the event from gaining access to the venue.
The event was organised by a group known as Coalition for Revolution (CORE). Human rights lawyers, Femi Falana, Affiong Affiong, and activist, Femi Aborishade, are billed to speak on the theme: “Democracy, State Repression and the State of insecurity in Nigeria.”
According to TheCable, Bala Elkana, the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, said that he was not aware of the barricade.
