Plot to impeach Obiano unsettles Anambra

.As PDP moves to Highjack Assembly seats

Should the Anambra state House of Assembly election produce a result similar to the last senate and federal House of Representatives elections in the area, Gov Willie Obiano may well kiss his office good bye before August this year.

Willie Obiano

Obiano who has been on cold war with his predecessor Peter Obi since he joined the People Democratic Party PDP despite the intervention of President Goodluck Jonathan into the matter is already pulling all stops to avert his being impeached from office.

It was authoritatively that the PDP in the statehas perfected plans to win twenty six seats out of the thirty seats in the State Assembly in order to secure over two third majorities of the House members to ultimately unseat the governor.

The Party reportedly left Idemili North and Idemili south seats for Sen Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress(APC) being his strong political base and that of Anambra East and West seats were left for All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA which is the area of strength for Gov Obiano.

It would be recalled that the PDP won nine out of the eleven National Assembly seats in Anambr and also won the three senatorial seats in the State which Gov Obiano described as a day light robbery and a rape on the democratic process.

Obiano had also accused the PDP of masterminding what he called the denial of the mandate of the people through manipulation in the last election which led to the failure of National Chairman of APGA sir Victor Umeh, Earnest Ndukwe and Dubem Obaze all senatorial candidates of the party.

But the victory of APC Presidential candidate Gen Muhammadu Buhari appears to have slightly jolted the PDP plot against the governor, and has ironically emboldened Gov Obiano who has allegedly found this development as a stepping stone to avert the highjack of the state Assembly seats.

Though it is not clear if there is any new political alliance with APC in the State, but the governors body language and a fair disposition Sen Chris Ngige of APC has with him as an indicator that both APGA and APC may close ranks to battle the PDP to a standstill.

Enhancing this suspicious are the reactions of state APGA chairman chief Mike Kwentoh and Barr Emeka Ibeh State chairman of APC to the PDP alleged grand plan.

According to Kwentoh” The brazen showoff thuggery and manipulations of the National Assembly elections in Anambra will not repeat itself this time around, the state Assembly election is our election and votes must count, The PDP played god and you all saw what happened. They cannot try this again and Anambra people will certainly stand to defend their governor. How can one plan for such an illegal act just to overheat the polity and the state in general? Is the PDP sure of winning up to five seats in the election. Let alone having a majority?

Emeka Ibeh of the APC told Niche that the PDP is on a Wild goose chase, noting that the party should go home and nurse their rejection by Nigerians in the Presidential election

“What powers do they have in sharing Assembly seats among political parties in Anambra?

The alignments is also said to be favoring Obiano as some of his foot soldiers are in the said meetings seeking the protection of the governor from being impeached.

A source at one of the meetings told Niche that “ we have been meeting and it is not only APC and some progressives PDP members but also APGA. The governor has extended his hand of followership to even one and the responds have not work. We have been meeting so that those days of confusion in Anambra will not come back again. It is a meeting of those who love Anambra and you will be surprised at the caliber of people that would stand behind the governor if this people try anything funny” he said.
