Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has met with ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido.
Mr Obi met the duo separately on Monday in Abuja.
Atiku announced the visit on X, saying it was his “honour and privilege” to host Obi.
Obi’s visit to Lamido lasted two hours, according to the ex-governor’s new media aide, Mansur Ahmed.
“Labour Party Presidential candidate of 2023 H.E. Peter Obi met the leader of the talakawas Dr. Sule Lamido CON, in his Abuja residence behind closed door. The meeting lasted for 2hours,” he wrote in a brief message made available to TheNiche.

This comes after Paul Ibe, Atiku’s spokesperson, accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of being responsible for Obi’s departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Atiku Abubakar didn’t in any way force Obi’s exit from the party. It’s not about relationships (Atiku managing the relationship between himself and Obi), there were factors,” Ibe stated on Seun Okinbaloye’s Mic On podcast released on Saturday.
“Wike was also instrumental to Obi’s exit because Wike had promoted his zone of the presidency to the south. Atiku had said that he was prepared to get himself off the ticket if the party zones to the ticket to the southeast.”
According to Ibe, Wike actively undermined efforts to zone the ticket to the South East, fearing it would diminish his chances of clinching the nomination.
“Wike frustrated that effort because he believed that if it was zoned to the South and not the South East, he would have been in the best position to get the ticket. So he was instrumental in the exit of Obi out of the party,” Ibe asserted.
