Former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, Mr. Peter Obi, left Nigeria on Tuesday for a three-day visit to Egypt.

Obi who announced the trip through his verified twitter page, @PeterObi, said the idea of the trip was to enable him study how other countries are making progress when Nigeria is plumbing the depths of despair.

While in Egypt, he will, among other things, study the Egyptian power sector, education, planning and finance sectors.

These are major areas where Nigeria has failed woefully.

Obi, who shared photos of himself at the airport on his twitter page, said he is embarking on the trip as part of his determination to do a detailed study of comparable countries to Nigeria.

“I just departed for Egypt on a 3-day visit as part of my detailed study of comparable countries to Nigeria. In Egypt, I am expected to understudy, among others, the Egyptian Power Sector, Education, Planning and Finance Sectors. -PO”, Obi tweeted.

Peter Obi has elevated his politics to issues. In another tweet on Monday, the frontline presidential candidate said, “I am a Nigerian running to serve every Nigerian. I urge a show of respect for every candidate, tribe, religion, and person.”

He has vowed to make Nigeria a better country if elected as the president.

One of his close associates told TheNiche on Tuesday that the trips are a major element in his quest to acquire knowledge and experiences that will enable him govern Nigeria and deliver the elusive dividends of democracy to the people.

“He wants to see how others are doing it and why they are succeeding where Nigeria has failed,” he said.

A nationwide mass movement is already underway among young Nigerians across the country to mobilize grassroots awareness and support for Peter Obi as their preferred choice for President of Nigeria.

For the first time since the return of democracy in 1999, the 2023 elections looks more like a three-horse race instead of just a race between Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Now, Peter Obi and the Labour Party are forces to contend with.
