Peseiro recently faced a backlash after the Super Eagles drew against Lesotho and Zimbabwe
By Kehinde Okeowo.
Embattled Nigeria coach, Jose Peseiro has refuted claims that he is seeking to dump the Super Eagles of Nigeria and join Egyptian club, Zamalek SC.
Some media outlets have reported that the 63-year-old Portuguese recently submitted his CV to the Zamalek management for the vacant coaching job.
However, debunking the news while speaking with btolat.com, the Super Eagles gaffer insisted it is fake news as he is only focus is on the Nigerian job.

Answering questions about his interest in the popular Egyptian club, Peseiro said: “At the present, all my focus is on the Nigerian Peseironational team only”
He went on to add: “There are no negotiations from Zamalek in any case and I am not thinking about anything else.”
Peseiro recently signed a contract extension with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
He is, however, currently under pressure after the Super Eagles drew against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches which took place on Thursday and Sunday respectively.
Following the disappointing outings, pundits and fans of the Nigerian team have been calling for the sack of the Portuguese tactician.
