A new thing has happened to the Lagos night life. It is the Friday Nite Live event introduced by the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) to inject life into entertainment in the city of many hues.
The first edition of the show which took place at the Shell Hall of the Muson Centre on Friday, September 11, was an opportunity for Perpetual Atife (Perpie) to shine bright with radiant tunes from her saxophone which she handled deftly to the delight of the many guests from all walks of life in attendance.
She took them down memory lane, reeling out tunes that got the guests stamping their feet and shaking their heads.
Others who wowed at the evening of great music were Fatima Anyekema, Guchi ‘Kester’ Egbunine, K Peace and the NNB Band.
It was Fatima who opened with her velvety soprano voice only to be accompanied by Guchi’s tenor in a duet that got the guests asking for an encore.
The shy guests however refused to stand up and dance, choosing only to nod their heads to the rhythm, even when K Peace did his own version of the John Legend popular song, ‘All of Me’. Rendered in fuji-like style, K Peace, who said his album would soon be released, later performed a song from the soon-to-be-released album. From the look of things, the MTN Project Alumni will go places.
In all, it was a night full of thrill and even razzmatazz, and those who came out for the novel night of rhythms will remember it for a long time. The show is expected to take place once every month.
