PDP zones national chairman to North, raises hope for Southern presidency

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned the national chairmanship position of the party to the North, a signal that its presidential ticket in 2023 may go South.

The governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwanyi, who heads the convention zoning committee of the party, announced the decision.

The party has however not announced its decision on which region the presidency would go. But going by previous arrangements in the party, the South may be given the slot.

The demand of the Southern governors that for balance and equity, the region should produce the successor of President Muhammadu Buhari, may have informed the decision of the party’s honchos.
