PDP plots APC downfall in Niger

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State is strategising on how to reclaim the state from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2019 if feelers from the opposition party is anything to go by.

Part of the plans include the zoning of the Governorship candidate of the party to zone ‘C’ (Niger-North), admission and registration of new members and as well reconciling aggrieved members at ward, local government, zonal levels.

Investigation by our correspondent in the state also revealed that PDP has other strategies to recapture Niger state in the next political dispensation which include; to accommodate more women and youths in positions at all levels.

Interested candidates for any elective positions from, Ward, Local Government Council and State levels must follow due process, according to the desires of the people as the party in the state will no longer tolerate imposition of candidates to avoid mistakes of the past.

Already, the party has announced the zoning of the governorship seat to Niger-North senatorial zone which incidentally is the same district the incumbent Governor Sani Bello hails from as announced by the state PDP chairman, Tanko Beji, when he granted audience to the party leaders from the senatorial zone led by the zonal vice chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Ability.
