PDP chieftain tells Adeboye, prayer must be combined with action to achieve results

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Sunny Onuesoke has fired a riposte to Enoch Adeboye, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) General Overseer, for saying Nigeria’s problems are spiritual.

“Prayers can’t solve economic hardship,” Onuesoke countered in Warri, Delta in reaction to Adeboye’s claim last Sunday when he visited Kano Governor Uba Sani that the solution to Nigeria’s problems is spiritual and beyond those in authority – a distortion of Biblical truth to mislead people.

The Bible teaches that prayer works, but that prayer must be combined with full obedience of God’s command regarding a particular situation, for man to receive and retain the full blessing of God. That is, prayer for divine intervention must be combined with human action at the physical level.

“It has become clearer to us that the problems our nation is facing is more than political. Our problems will require quite a bit of spiritual solution,” Adeboye said.

“We, as a country, are blessed. We are blessed with people with great intelligence. We are blessed with all manner of resources and yet we have so many problems.

“It is not as if people in authority are not trying their best. They are doing as much as humanly possible and then we found out that when you have problems that are beyond human ability to solve them, you call on the Almighty.

“The reason we call Him the Almighty is because He has the power to solve all problems.”

However, in Onuesoke’s view, “only a planned system with good governance can solve the economic problems in the nation.”

He urged President Bola Tinubu to wake up and take Nigerians out of hunger, hyper inflation, and poverty.

Lawyer takes Adeboye to task for covering up for Tinubu

Human rights lawyer Malcom Omirhobo has also taken Adeboye to task for attempting to shield Tinubu from blame, per Daily Post.

“Tinubu and Governors are mandated to fix Nigeria, not to resort to prayers as a substitute for governance,” Omirhobo said, and implored Adeboye to refrain from misleading the public by attributing Nigeria’s challenges to spiritual factors.

“Our nation’s problems are rooted in political inadequacies, not spiritual deficiencies. It is time to confront reality and demand accountable governance, rather than turning to prayers as a panacea,” he insisted.
