PDP chairmanship: S’South govs can’t impose Agbaje on us – S’West Group

Jimi Agbaje

The South West Consultative Group has warned South-South Governors against the attempt to impose former Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship Candidate, Mr Jimi Agbaje, on the South West as their choice of PDP National Chairman at the party’s national convention.

This was just as former Minister of Education, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, yesterday, picked his nomination form at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

In a statement by its Chairman, Mr. Soji Fadairo, the SWCG noted that the Yoruba are enlightened and sophisticated enough to make a proper choice for the position of the PDP National Chairman.

Fadairo stated that “It is downright insulting and outrightly rude for the South-South Governors to start dabbling into our affairs. Surely, Agbaje is by no measure a credible candidate. This neophyte who keeps jumping from party to party is hardly the face of the disciplined leadership of our people.

“The group warned the South – South governors to mind their own business and leave the South West PDP alone saying that failure to heed the warning “will provoke the ire and anger of our people.”

Speaking after picking the form, Prof Adeniran said his commitment to reposition the party towards greatness and redirect it in actualising the dreams of the founding fathers informed his decision to seek the mandate of the delegates to the national convention.

Adeniran said “I want to assure all our party members and Nigerians at large that my venture into the chairmanship position of our great party has no other motive than to reposition, rebrand and put the party on the path of greatness. As a founding member, who has remained with the party in thick and thin and served in various frontline capacities, I possess the fortitude and experience to help the party achieve its objectives.”
