Ghanian midfielder, Thomas Partey, scored his first Arsenal goal in a 3-1 defeat of Aston Villa at the Emirates.
The home side made up for the disappointment of Monday’s home draw against Palace, as they convincingly won against Aston Villa in a Friday night Premier League(EPL) game.
Gunners got off to a promising start in the 29th minute, after Emile Smith Rowe’s assist was converted by Thomas Party for his first Arsenal goal.
Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, doubled the home side’s advantage deep into extra time of the first half, from the penalty spot after Matt Targett tripped Alexandre Lacazette.
Villa’s keeper, Emiliano Martinez saved the initial spot-kick but Aubameyamg was the quickest to react to the rebound, as he scored on the second attempt to make it 2-0 to Arsenal.
Arsenal made it 3-0 when Aubameyang found Smith Rowe from a counter-attack, which he made to count in the 56th minute.
Aston Villa got a consolatory goal in the 82nd minute when Leon Bailey found James Ramsey, who scored a brilliant goal against Aaron Ramsdale in the Arsenal goal, to deny him a clean sheet and end the game 3-1.
Arsenal moved up from 12th to the 9th position in the EPL with the win, while Villa stayed in 13th position and have now lost 3 games in a row.
