Paris 2024 Olympics: Team Nigeria endures more Olympic woes as Bello crashed out in Table Tennis
Nigeria’s campaign in the Table Tennis event at the Paris 2024 Olympics came to an end on Monday morning at the South Paris Arena 4 where debutant, Fatimo Bello crashed out of the women’s singles event, a day after Edem Offiong also crashed out, both in the Round 64.
The Nigerian player lost 4-0 to French player, Nan Jia Yuan who easily won the tie to progress to the Round 32.
Bello was beaten 11-1, 11-3, 11-3, 11-5 by the French girl who has now qualified for the round of 32.
The male duo of Aruna Quadri and Olajide Omotayo also failed to progress.
Aruna gave up a 3-0 lead to lose to Eduard Ionescu of Romania in their round of 64 clash. He won the first three sets 11-8, 11-9, 11-6 but lost the momentum and the next four to the Romanian 11-8, 11-10, 11-9 and 13-11.
Omotayo was the first to crash out following his 4-1 loss to Iranian, Alamiyan Noshad.
