Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji has attributed the increment in the salaries of workers in his state to the reforms embarked upon by President Bola Tinubu.

He made this known on Tuesday, while speaking with some civil servants who visited his office in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital to express their gratitude for the payment of the new minimum wage, as reflected in their December salary.

The governor while addressing the workers urged them to appreciate God and President Bola Tinubu for the new minimum wage.

According to him, Tinubu’s reforms led to an increase in state allocations, which ultimately made it possible for governors to pay improved wages to  workers.

Speaking during the workers’ visit, Oyebanji said, “But for the President’s reforms, which gave more money to states, a number of state governments would not have been able to pay the minimum wage. Honestly, I don’t think you should thank me. We have not done anything unusual. You worked hard and got paid by the government.

“But I thank you also for showing appreciation. Thank God, and thank President Bola Tinubu also. I’m saying this because what you are seeing today are the outcomes of the reforms he embarked on.”

Earlier, the workers led by some permanent secretaries to the governor’s office, expressed their gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his promise to ensure they received a fair deal in the minimum wage payment.

The permanent secretaries also commended Oyebanji for including them in the wage increase, acknowledging his commitment to ensuring that every category of workers benefits from the new minimum wage.
