A Federal High Court, sitting in Awka, has affirmed Victor Oye as National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA. The Court, presided over by His Lordship, Hon Justice Nganjiwa has dismissed the interlocutory application for an Order of Mandatory Injunction filed by Chief Edozie Njoku. In a ruling delivered on Thursday July 1, 2021, the Honourable Court held that the reliefs sought by the applicant are substantially the same as the reliefs sought in the substantive suit. The court held that granting such application will prejudice the hearing of the substantive suit before the court.
Sopulu Ezeonwuka, a lawyer, had approached the Federal High court, Awka Judicial Division vide Suit No. FHC/AWK/CS/35/2021 praying the Honourable Court to recognize Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA and to compel him to conduct primary election purportedly on behalf of APGA. But the Court in its ruling dismissed the application for lacking in merit.
With the latest development, Oye remains the National Chairman of APGA while Prof Charles Soludo remains the duly nominated APGA candidate for the Anambra Governorship election. A motion for joinder filed by Oye will be heard by the court on the next adjourned date.
