The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee yesterday in Abuja screened Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, and two others ahead of this month’s party primary for the July 16, state governorship election.

APC fixed the state governorship primary election for February 19.

The other aspirants screened were former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuff and ex-Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti.

It would be recalled that Adeoti recently defected to the APC from the Action Democratic Party (ADP).

Oyetola, who is seeking re-election, declared that his performance since assuming office was enough to ensure victory.

“Let me say this, my performance in office in all areas of endeavour, as I speak today, is enough for me to win the party’s primary and the state governorship election.

“By every standard, we have done so well within the last three and half years, and I have been able to justify the confidence reposed in me by the people.

“I have been very much involved in the party; I’m not a novice when it comes to the issue of party administration”, he told reporters.

The governor said nobody can intimidate him and that he would continue with strategic engagements.

Oyetola said he was prepared for the election, adding that he had gone round to 18 of the 34 local government areas of the state to campaign as well as seek the support of party members in the local government areas.

Oyetola contested the September 22, 2018, Osun State governorship election on the platform of the APC, which he won.

On March 23, 2019, a tribunal declared him not legally returned and ordered INEC to issue a certificate of return to Senator Adeleke of the PDP.

He, however, won his appeal and went ahead to win at the Supreme Court on July 5, 2019. There was majority judgment of 5 and dissenting judgment of 2, ruling in Oyetola’s favour.
