Award-winning journalist and author, O’Femi Kolawole, will on Thursday, September 22 present a book honouring Nigerian columnists and public intellectuals and their contributions to nation-building.
The book, The Patriots: Conversations with Nigerian Columnists and Public Intellectuals on Dividends of Democracy, Governance, Leadership and Nation-Building, is published by Posterity Media.
The presentation ceremony, which holds September 22, 2022, at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos by 11am, will be chaired by respected media leader and former governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba.
Some of the distinguished columnists and public intellectuals in the book include veteran journalists and legal luminaries like Afe Babalola (SAN), 92-year-old legal icon, and founder, Afe Babalola University, who has been writing a newspaper column for 50 years; Ray Ekpu, veteran columnist and co-founder, Newswatch; Yakubu Muhammed, former pro-chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria; Prof. Jibrin Ibrahim, Daily Trust and Premium Times Columnist and Muiz Banire SAN, a columnist at THE SUN.

Aside sharing the stories of Nigerian columnists, The Patriots also discusses socio-political and economic issues about Nigeria, our country’s leadership recruitment process and how to improve it for better outcomes, the media industry, the 2023 elections and Nigeria’s future. The book also contains uncommon insights and ideas towards actualising Nigeria’s greatness as a true giant of the Black Race.
Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, is expected to deliver a keynote lecture at the event themed “2023 Elections: Right Choices and the Imperative of National Rebirth in Actualizing the Nigeria of Our Dreams.”
People from all walks of life are expected to attend the ceremony which will also have an array of leading personalities in Nigeria’s media industry in attendance.
