Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has asked his compatriots and fans to show unity, respect and understanding amidst the recent controversial TikTok videos posted by his club, Napoli.

TheNiche had earlier reported that the Nigerian frontman frowned at a social media post shared on Tuesday, September 26, by his club.

The Serie A champions had gone online to post a TikTok video that appeared to have mocked the 24-year-old after he missed a penalty during a league game with Bologna.

His agent, Roberto Calenda, after the clip made the rounds slammed Napoli for the now-deleted post and threatened to sue the Italian outfit.

Osimhen also took down all the images of himself in a Napoli jersey from his social media pages and muted his goal scoring celebration last week.

However, the Serie A club later issued a statement stating that the act was not intentional.

After keeping mum for a while, Osimhen has now broken his silence on the saga via a statement he released on Sunday.

He said: “Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The People of Naples have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us.

“The passion of the People of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride.

“The accusations against the People of Naples are untrue. I have a lot of friends that are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life.

“I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for lending their voices to support and reach out to me. Thanks so much, I’m forever grateful.

“Let’s continue to spread unity, respect and understanding.

“FORZA NAPOLI SEMPRE.”
