Barcelona forward and Falcons captain, Asisat Oshoala has said she is unaware that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has stripped her of Super Falcon’s captaincy.
Oshoala was the vice-captain of the Super Falcons at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France and was elevated to the captaincy post on September 17, 2019.
The Barcelona star took over as captain after Desire Oparanozie who was removed amid controversial circumstances in 2019.
According to SportNewsAfrica, 30 months after assuming the leadership of the team, the reigning and record-equalling four-time Africa Women’s Player of the Year has now been stripped of the armband.

However, Oshoala denied knowledge of the report that she has been stripped of her captaincy while reacting to a post by a fan on Twitter on Thursday.
” Why is it that the NFF or coach always have issues with Super Falcons players. if it isn’t Desire, it is Onome or Asisat. Stripping them of their leadership roles or alienating them from the team isn’t always the solution, check yourselves NFF or whoever the shoe fits in there,” Latifat Ohio tweeted.
Reacting to Ohio’s tweet, Oshoala laughed and said she was not in the know, she, however, said she does not have a problem with such a move
“LMAO, I’m just hearing this but (it’s) okay,” she replied.
The 27-year-old striker thereafter began to retweet comments on her timeline but netizens who are her fans begged and advised her to stop retweeting comments as she may be dropped for upcoming tournaments by NFF.
