Ortom loses cool on Channels TV, says he is being gagged

Governor Samuel Ortom

Ortom says Aso Rock Cabal blocked him from seeing Buhari in the Villa, and the only way he could get the truth about bandits’ activities in his state is via the media

Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, lashed out today at the presenter of Politics Today, Seun Okinbaloye, saying the host of the Signature programme of Channels Television attempted to gag him.

Ortom lost his cool after Okinbaloye interrupted him when the governor said bandits have infiltrated Abuja and Aso Rock.

Okinbaloye responded that he wasn’t stopping the governor from saying the truth, but was only trying to enforce the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) rules.

Channels Television has come under the hammer of the NBC over comments made by its guests several times.

But the Benue Governor was furious saying he was disappointed in Channels Television’s censorship of his comments by not allowing him to tell the truth about how bad things have become in Nigeria, although he later apologized for being emotional.

Ortom’s frustration was because Aso Rock Cabal blocked him from seeing Buhari, he says, and that the media that should help him expose the atrocities being committed in his state by bandits, was gagging him from doing so.

Recall that Ortom yesterday alleged that banditry in Zamfara, Kaduna and his home state, Benue, enjoys the blessings of the federal government. He said the aim is to dispossess the indigenous landholders and replace them with Fulani occupiers. He made the comment on Arise TV.

Hear him: “Go to Zamfara and see where the Fulani people are taking over lands of the native Hausa people. Is it in Kaduna where the Fulani people are taking over the lands of the indigenous Christian community?”
