The Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has said contrary to the belief by some Nigerians that he hates President Muhammadu Buhari due to the persistent armed Fulani attacks in his state, he does harbor any ill feelings towards him.

Ortom made this known on Wednesday, while featuring on Arise Television’s Morning News, where also admitted that he was not the best candidate but God chose to make him a two-time governor of his state.

He went on to say the outgoing President likes him too, claiming he was the first governor he took to South Africa when he was newly elected.

He said: “I wasn’t the best candidate in 2015 and 2019, but God made me the governor. Many people believe I’m an enemy of Buhari, but he remains my president till May 29. All I do is constructive criticism.

“I don’t hate Buhari, we love each other, I was the first governor he took to South Africa when he became president. The issue is just that of Fulani herdsmen causing trouble, and I would continue to agitate.”

The Benue state governor also eulogised former Nigerian president, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, whom he claims that Benue people love so much because of his legacies in the North-Central state.

“These are just people causing problems, Shehu Shagari did so well as president and today, Benue has written his name in gold,” Ortom added.
