Benue Governor Samuel Ortom has expressed delight at the endorsement of Peter Obi by former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the best candidate for Aso Rock fully equipped for this season in Nigeria’s history to turn it around from the abyss.
Ortom is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) G5 Governors, led by outspoken Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, who decline to support Atiku Abubakar for the Villa because he backs Iyorchia Ayu to remain the party’s National Chairman, a post that should be rotated to the South.
Other members of the G5, also called the Integrity Group, are Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).
Ortom repeated his stand that he would have personally led Obi’s campaign across the country if he were not a member of the PDP.
He recommended Obi to Nigerians “as the man who has the capacity to effectively tackle the economic, security and other challenges facing the country,” according to a statement he issued through his Media Aide Terver Akase, per Vanguard.
