A socio-political group, Oodua Action Movement (OAM), has joined other well-meaning Nigerians to mourn the death of elder statesman and Afenifere leader, (Egbe Ilosiwaju Yoruba), Pa Ayorinde Fasanmi, who died at the age 94.
Senator Fasanmi, a nonagenarian, died after brief illness in Osogbo, Osun state capital.
The coordinator of the Oodua Action Movement, Otunba Demola Edward, in a statement on Friday in Akure, Ondo State capital, said the death of PA Ayo Fasanmi has “robbed” the Yoruba nation of a “prominent leader at this crucial time in the agitation for Yorubaland autonomy.”
According to him, the Afenifere leader will be “sorely missed” saying that he was a thoroughbred politician and a great leader.
Edward described Pa Fasanmi as a great visionary leader who he said was deeply committed and worked assiduously to improve the conditions of his people and the development of the country.
The OAM Coordinator who extolled the humanity, integrity and purposefulness of Pa Fasanmi who he said rioritised the needs of the people above all else.
His words, “We all know that his wise counsel, insight and forthrightness will be sorely missed by the Yoruba nation and the entire country.”
“Pa Fasanmi made indelible marks in the political landscape of the country that would not be forgotten in a hurry,” he said.
Edward therefore prayed that the almighty God will receive the soul of the departed nonagenarian and grant his loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.
