The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has described the late Deacon Gamaliel Onosode, 82, as an exemplary human being and advocate of excellence.
Moreover, Onosode, popularly known as “Mr Integrity,” would be remembered for his forthrightness, transparency and honesty.
Prof. Olusegun Ajiboye, Chairman, ASUU Chapter of University of Ibadan, told NAN on Tuesday that Onosode was knowledgeable about everything, a larger-than-life boardroom technocrat par excellence.
Deacon Onosode, 82, died Tuesday morning after a protracted illness at Gold Cross Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos at about 8:15am barely hours after he was flown home from London on Monday.
Ajiboye said that as former Pro-chancellor and Chairman of UI Governing Council, Onosode performed meritoriously.
“The late Onosode performed creditably for the good and development of his alma mater. Through him, a lot of projects were funded in the university.
“He was an exemplary human being who pursued ideas. He made sure that the University of Ibadan got back its fortunes and regained its lost glory,” the professor eulogised.
“Many universities used him as their pro-Chancellor because of his transparency and service to humanity.
“We pray God to give the Onosode family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
