One person was feared dead, while two police vans and other vehicles were destroyed as truck drivers and members of the presidential task force team clashed on Thursday.

At the time of filing this report, the Lilypond terminal gate, two police Hillux vans had been torched.

The cause of the face-off is not known but some of the protesters, said it was due to extortion by some members of the task-force.

In the melee, it was gathered that a young driver who was in his early twenties died inside the terminal.

Eyewitness account said that the rift between both parties started on Wednesday following alleged bribery and by noon on Thursday, two patrol vans had been set ablaze and scores of other vehicles destroyed in the skirmish with truckers in the Terminal.

The entry gate of the truck transit park was on fire at press time even as military operatives were sighted shooting sporadically in the air.

The Terminal and Total tank farm are separated by fence which in turn may cause further mayhem at  Ijora and its environs if not properly handled.
