‘Why only one council not owing workers salaries in Kwara’

Alhaji Alhassan Bagudu, the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Council in Kwara State, on Thursday said his administration was not owing workers because of the style of governance he deployed.

Bagudu told the News Agency of Nigeria in Ilesha-Baruba that his administration had adopted a team work approach to governance aimed at promoting service delivery.

He said: “We have adopted a system that as a team, we first of all must sacrifice in the service to community because that is what is paramount to us.”

Bagudu added that although the council was not owing workers salaries, it has some challenges, which were not peculiar to it.

NAN reports that Kaiama is the only council in the state not owing workers salaries, with others yet to clear the backlog of between four months and seven months.

The council boss said his administration had within the last three years been able to address issues relating to provision of infrastructure and community development within the limit of available funds.

Bagudu, a former lawmaker in the state, also said the council had continued to give priority to water supply and community development.
