Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the upcoming November election, Agboola Ajayi has incurred the wrath of the party.
This is as his decision to appoint principal officers of his campaign council led to a crisis within the state chapter of the party.
The party disagreed with Ajayi’s failure to carry its officers along in the appointment of those that will serve in the campaign council.
Ajayi on Monday disclosed through his spokesperson, Samuel Ogunmusi, that the former National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, Eddy Olafeso, will serve as the Chairman of his Campaign Council.
He also added that the former chairman of the party in the state, Clement Faboyede, has been appointed as the Director General of the Campaign Council, while John Ola-Mafo and Deji Aseniserare will serve as Director General (Special Duties) and Secretary respectively.

Reacting to the pronouncement, the state chapter of PDP in Ondo State in a statement issued by its publicity secretary, Kennedy Peretei, kicked against the move and described Ajayi’s action as embarrassing.
He went on to stress that the action contradicted the constitution of the party.
“The announcement by one Samuel Ogunmusi appointing persons to coordinate the campaigns of H.E. Agboola Ajayi for the November election is not only embarrassing but a violation of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended).
“Articles 46(1) and 40(1)(a)(b) and (c) do not permit such announcements coming from individuals not known to the party. To such an extent, all the supposed announcements are null, void, and of no effect.
“Our party is an organised party, guided by the rule of law. At the appropriate time, appointments for the Local Campaign Council will be made public,” Peretei said.
