The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer in the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, has officially challenged the victory of the incumbent Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, at the tribunal.
Other defendants in the petition include: the INEC, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Deputy Govenor- elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Jegede is alleging that the election was marred by irregularities and pockets of violence and intimidation.
He also faulted the emergence of Akeredolu during party’s primaries, while asking the tribunal to declare him winner of the election.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Akeredolu winner in 15 out of the 18 local government areas to lead Jegede with a wide margin at the polls.
