Speaking at the meeting, a chieftain of the party and the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Femi Idris said the meeting centred on how to form a structure that will ensure that Pastor Jide Ipinsagba who possesses good qualities emerged as the APC candidate in Ondo North.
He pointed out that Owo people believe in equity, saying “We have a governor who is from Owo and the most reasonable thing to do is to support Akoko person for the Senate.
Idris further stressed that it is the turn of Akoko North Federal Constituency to produce the Senate and Akoko North West presently has a Member House of Representatives, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo (BTO) and we want him to continue beyond 2023 because he has performed creditable and this will give Akoko North East the opportunity to produce the Senate.
He went on, “We should be there for him (Ipinsagba) now so that we will be part of the system. Let us give it a trial. What can be debarred our progress is insincerity, lack of trust and we should be focused so that we will not cut the chain of progress.
“When we are committed and trusted by our leaders, we should leave the rest for God to do” Idris added.
On his part, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Rt. Hon Fatai Olotu commended the APC stakeholders at the meeting for their massive Goodwill towards Pastor Ipinsagba for Senate.
He said the people of Ikare in Akoko North-East has already endorsed Ipinsagba for Senate saying that there is no doubt that it is the turn of Ikare Akoko.
“We need someone who will be at the same pace with the mission and vision of Mr Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
“What makes this government outstanding is all about identifying projects that are beneficiary to the people of the state,” he said.
He however described Ipinsagba as a humble man per excellent saying that he can be trusted when given the mandate to represent the area.
In his speech, an APC Chieftain in Akoko North West, Evangelist Olumuyiwa Asagunla, Odofin OGBOYE of Affa Okeagbe said the turnout of people for the meeting was overwhelmed saying it means Pastor Jide Ipinsagba could be trusted because he has been tested.
“We have given the position to Ikare Akoko because it is the turn of Akoko North federal constituency to produce the Senator to represent Ondo North senatorial district.
“For now Akoko North West has a Member of House of Representatives in Akoko North Federal Constituency, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo (BTO) is doing very well. And if we have a person like Ipinsagba at Senate, the sky is the limit for Ondo North in terms of infrastructural development and it will not be business as usual at the National Assembly”, Asagunla maintained
However, in his contribution, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Natural Resources, Hon. Fatai Lawal explained that it was not possible for candidates to emerge from Owo/Ose Constituency where the Governor comes from noting that they are going to reject such a move in the interest of fairness.
“I will admonish the people here that we should be sincere and remain focused and we should be free to approach our leaders on any issue bothering our mind”, he added.
