Ondo govt takes over education of children whose father died during a building collapse

The deceased, Ademola Lawrence died when the old structure of the Local Authority Primary School Okitipupa collapsed on him

Ondo state government has affirmed its undaunting readiness to keep alive the educational hope of the workman who died when the old structures of the Local Authority Primary School Okitipupa fell on him.

The 52-year-old Ademola Lawrence, a father of four children died when the old structures of the Local Authority Primary School Okitipupa he was paid to pull down fell on him

It was learnt that the block of the classroom was to be pulled down to make way for a new structure, but while work was ongoing, the building suddenly caved in on the victim, killing him instantly.

While commiserating with the family of the victim, Chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan represented by Full Time Member 2, Hon.Saka Yussfu Ogeleye who led a delegation of the State Government to the deceased house at Obolo quarter in Irele in Irele Local Government Area of the State made the gesture of the government known.

According to Olabimtan, the government through the Board as a responsible institution can not leave its people alone in their trying moment like this saying that the government is feeling the pains of the family of the deceased over the untimely death of their son, hence, they came to commiserate and sympathized with them.

“In addition to taking over the payment of the school fees, books and uniforms of the children of the deceased in Public Primary Schools in the State, Olabimtan said the Government through the Board will be supporting the family burial plans for the deceased with N100,000.

Olabimtan however promised that the Board will liaise with the Police to release the remains of the deceased for burial and thanked the family for their peaceful nature before, during and for the outcome of the meeting and prayed that the peace that the family has been enjoying shall not depart them even after the final burial of the deceased

Speaking on behalf of the deceased family, High Chief Adetoye Akinjamolu appreciated the Government for its kind gesture towards the children of the deceased and the contribution towards the burial.

Earlier, the government’s delegation led by Hon Ogunleye was at the Local Authority Primary School, Okitipupa where the incident happened for an on the spot assessment of the situation.

Other entourages are the Director of Social Mobilization, Julius Adebayo and her Deputy, Mrs Akinmoladun, Director of Press Prince Bolu Diesel Ajijo, Education Secretary, Okitipupa Local Government Area LGEA, Prince Arowojolu, Headteacher Mrs Ekundayo Deborah and staff of both Okitipupa and Irele LGEAs
