Ondo state House of Assembly has summoned the management of Chevron Nigeria limited as a matter of urgency to come and address the root cause of the fire incident that occurred in Ojumole oil well in Ilaje-Ugbo,Ilaje council area of Ondo state.
While moving the motion on the floor of the House, the lawmaker representing Ilaje constituency 1, Hon. (Prince). Abayomi B. Akinruntan noted that the people of the affected communities are in serious danger aside from the commercial activities in the area that has been disrupted.
Reacting to this, Acting majority leader, Jamiu Maito said the house must take proactive steps and rise to its responsibility by inviting the necessary agency for discussion.
The speaker Oleyelulogun while aligning with the lawmakers constituted an ad-hoc committee to address the issue.
He however invited to the house Chevron Nigeria limited, Ilaje-Ugbo community Representatives, commissioner for environment and representative from the palace of Olugbo of Ugbo on Thursday 9th May to determine the root cause of the fire incident, security implications, economic implications and solution/ recommendations for clarity.
The Ad-hoc committee has Hon. (Prince) Abayomi B. Akinruntan as Chairman, Rt. Hon. Coker Malachi as Member, Hon. Jamiu Maito as Member, Hon. Sola Ebiwonjumi as Member, Hon. (Barri.) Ajimotokin as Member and Barri. Jaiyeola as Secretary.
