Ondo State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Suleman Maito, has incurred the wrath of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his Akoko Northwest Council for supporting Deputy Governor Alfred Ajayi, who is facing impeachment.

Nine of the 26 lawmakers, including Maito, had on Tuesday kicked against moves by 14 lawmakers to serve impeachment notice on Ajayi over alleged gross misconduct.

Ajayi recently dumped the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to enable him contest the governorship election on October 20, 2020.

Some 26 APC leaders in Akoko North West Council have expressed displeasure over Maito’s action, saying he violated party directives on the need to remove Ajayi.

A letter jointly signed by the leaders criticised him for acting against the party’s interest.

Signatories to letter include Tunji Abayomi, Sanmi Alade, Rasheed Badmus, Segun Ajiboye, Gani Muhammed, and Awe Azees.
