The dust raised by the October 10 Governorship election in Ondo state has not been settled after all as the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, has headed to the Election Petition Tribunal.
Jegede who made this known in Akure, the state caputal said he has to break his silence over the issue as the party PDP will be going to court to reclaim the mandate given to him by the people of the state.
He said with this process, “let our people remain hopeful for a better future ahead of them” saying that they would get the mandate back by the grace of God.
Jegede is challenging the victory of Govenor Rotimi Akeredolu at the Election petition tribunal at Court 2, Akure High Court.
TheNiche gathered that that Jegede challenged the Victory of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on four grounds.
That the election was marred by irregularities and pockets of violence and intimidation.
Jegede also faulted the emergence of Akeredolu during Party’s primaries.
Joined in the petition are the Independent National Electoral Commission, the All Progressives Congress and the Deputy Govenor- elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Ifedayo Adedipe is the lead counsel for the PDP candidate.
