Olowo mourns late Ondo Governor, Akeredolu

Olowo also consoled the Ondo State government, Akeredolu’s family and people of Owo kingdom

The Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye-III, has described the death of the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), as a tragic, sad and painful loss. 

TheNiche had on Wednesday, December 27, reported that Gov Akeredolu, an indigene of Owo Kingdom, passed away at the age of 67 while receiving medical treatment in Germany.

A follow-up statement by the Ondo State government further confirmed it, saying the governor succumbed to complications arising from protracted prostate cancer.

Speaking after his demise, Oba Ogunoye, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant Media, Sam Adewale, said, the death of the governor “was an irredeemable loss to the Government and people of Ondo State, family and the entire Owo kingdom”.

The monarch went on to admit that “death is inevitable as nobody can challenge God when its time comes” but added that Akeredolu’s demise “was too much to comprehend”.

Olowo also consoled family, friends, Owo kingdom and Government of Ondo State and prayed for the repose of the soul of the governor who according to him, “left an indelible footprint on the sands of time in legal profession and governance.”

The highly revered monarch, further said that the death of Aketi, as he was fondly called by his numerous admirers, “is an unfortunate occurrence that came to the entire kingdom as a rude shock.”
