The Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin, Ogunoye III, has congratulated one of the daughters of Owo kingdom, Prof (Mrs) Ibiyemi Olatunji – Bello on her appointment as Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU).
Recall Prof Olatunji-Bello, the wife of Mr Tunji Bello, former Secretary to Lagos State Government and current Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in Lagos State, was recently appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the citadel of learning by the Lagos State government.
Oba Ogunoye, in a message made available by his Special Assistant Media, Sam Adewale, said the appointment, to the people of the kingdom, is a welcome development, as it once again proves the ingenuity of what Owo Kingdom indigenes are made of, in all human endeavours.
“The people of the kingdom are indeed proud of your academic brilliance, which has hitherto manifested in the appointment, where you will be in charge of the renowned citadel of learning.
“The kingdom is solidly behind you, as the kingdom will be at all times engage in prayers for your success, as you assume your official duties at the exalted position” the highly revered Oba said.
The 57-year old, who is LASU’s first Professor of Physiology , served as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution in 2011 before becoming the 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor. She also made history as the second female VC of the institution, after Prof Jadesola Akande.
