Customs Area Controller in Charge of Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Festus Okun, has urged newly promoted officers in his command to enhance their efforts in service as a way of justifying their elevations.

The CAC also advised the promoted officers not to disappoint the NCS by sustaining their law-abiding characters and not betraying the trust of the Comptroller General of Customs on them.

Okun gave the advice, while administering decoration of some of the 70 newly promoted officers under his command.

He advised them to see the promotion as a higher call to national service and be selfless in the discharge of their responsibilties as customs officers.

He added that the promotions were signs of good performances that should be encouraged while advising that they all shun any form of compromise.

“I am happy for this day. I heartily congratulate all promoted officers. It is my wish that you excel in your new tasks because promotion comes with responsibilties.

“Get acquainted more to processes and procedures; do team work and don’t compromise your integrity for any reason. I am happy some of us are leaving because they have become Comptrollers.

“I want to urge you all to continue in your commitment and loyalty to national service at all times. While congratulating you all, including those whose ranks will require them serving in new offices and higher capacities, I plead with you to keep the flag of excellent service flying,” Okun said.

A total of 70 officers were promoted in the command in a recent promotion exercise approved by the Board of Nigeria Customs Service.

Lawal Yusuf Bello, a newly promoted Comptroller, attributed the promotion to God and expressed appreciation on behalf of all the newly promoted officers for their promotions.

Also on behalf of the newly Promoted Officers, Mohammed Yakubu, a Deputy Superintendent of Customs and Public Relations Officer for the command, thanked the management and his Controller for the promotion.

He said that it was an act of God that all the recipients are grateful for and that the promotions would spur all beneficiaries to higher performance.

Among those promoted in PTML were two Deputy Comptrollers to Comptroller; four Assistant Comptrollers to Deputy Comptrollers; six Chief Superintendents of Customs to Assistant Comptroller.
