The board of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) is saddened by the news of the death of one of its members, Prof. Emmanuel Ojeme.
Ojeme, one of the refined persons in Nigeria’s athletics history was said to have passed on Monday evening.
He was a representative of Nigeria Association of Physical Health Education, Recreation, Dance and Sports (Napher-SD) on the current AFN board.
Course of his sudden demise was not immediately known.
AFN President, Chief Tonobok Okowa described the news of Prof. Ojeme’s death as shocking.
“I just got calls from someone very close to him that our dear Prof. Ojeme has passed on. It was shocking to me. I am still trying to reach out to his wife and children to know exactly what happened.
“Prof. Ojeme has been a great fsther to us in the Athletics family. It is so sad his death is coming at a point when we are putting heads together on how to prepare our athletes to make a great impact at the Paris Olympics Games. We will surely miss him,” Okowa stated.
