Okorocha accuses military, DSS of aiding PDP to rig election as INEC declares Hope winner

The Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha has alleged that the military and Department of State Security Services posted to ensure a crisis free general election have allegedly turned to be a willing tool in the hands of PDP primarily to rig presidential and national assembly elections that was held on March 28, 2015.

Okorocha said that the conduct of the election negates the peoples expectation and the provisions of the electoral act. He went further alleging that various INEC offices in the state were used for rigging. The governor denied allegations made by numerous INEC officials and security operatives that he was personally involved in beating of INEC staffers and deflating the tires of INEC vehicles conveying electoral materials from areas where they worked back to Imo INEC headquarters.

 

 

Meanwhile the election results for Imo West (Orlu Zone) has been released by the INEC returning officer Professor Charles C. Ezeh of the Federal University of Technology Owerri. According Professor Ezeh, APGA candidate Thank-God Ezeani got 27,753, APC candidate Senator Osita Izunaso got 70,843 and PDP candidate Senator Hope Uzodinma got 154,605. Consequently Senator Uzodinma was declared winner.

 

 

However, the returning officer Professor Ezeh displayed tore result sheets and said the governor and his APC members allegedly were responsible for what he described as an unlawful acts. Earlier, Professor Ezeh spoke to The Niche, stating that he fled into the bush when the governor came into the collation centre located at Orlu local government headquarters with APC thugs.

 

 

Meanwhile, results of all the local governments released so far in the state are in favour of PDP except Ideato South where Buhari got 12,128, and Jonathan got 6,406. Unannounced results for other senatorial zones of Imo East (Owerri zone)t and Imo North (Okigwe zone) also tilt towards PDP.
