Okonjo-Iweala hails rescue of Kankara schoolboys

Nigeria’s former Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has celebrated the rescue of the 344 boys of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Kastina State, who were kidnapped by bandits on December 11, 2020.

She also advocated for adequate security at all schools in Nigeria.

The former managing director, Operations, World Bank, stated on her twitter handle, @NOIweala, that the “return of

Katsina boys is wonderful news!! Time to revive the #SafeSchool initiative and implement it comprehensively to protect our children.”

She had described the abduction of the schoolboys in Katsina as heartbreaking.

“What a recurring nightmare. My heart goes out to the families of the missing boys.

“The authorities must do all possible to #BringBackOurBoys! Those using our children as pawns must be held accountable!” she had stated.

Recall that Ohanaeze Ndigbo had described the kidnap and rescue of the schoolboys as an award winning drama of the year, 2020.
