Okonjo-Iweala condemns abduction of 317 female students in Zamfara

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) boss and Nigeria’s former Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has condemned the abduction of about 317 female students of Jangebe Government Girls Secondary School in Zamfara State by armed bandits on Friday morning.

Okonjo-Iweala, in her twitter handle, @NOIweala, while calling for the release of the girls, lamented the abduction of the female students moreso when the 42 boys of Kagara school were yet to be freed by their abductors.

She also advocated for a more secure environment for Nigerian students to study.

Her words: “Very sad to learn about the abduction of the Zamfara girls following on the heels of the Kagara boys. Praying for their safe recovery and stronger protection. Hoping for a more secure environment for our children to learn. #SafeSchoolsInitiative.”
