Stand up comedian and thespian, Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule, better known as Okey Bakassi, has shared the sentiments of veteran actor, Stephen Alajemba, aka Uwaezuoke, on polygamy.

According to him, monogamy isn’t working, therefore, polygamy is the best form of marriage for Africa.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Bakassi said many people are pretending to be happy in monogamous marriages when they are not.

He said, “Forget all the lip services that we pay to polygamy here. I still think that polygamy is the best form of marriage for Africa. Monogamy is not working.

“We are pretending. Now, what’s the difference between polygamy and monogamy? Polygamy says you can marry two people at the same time. Monogamy says you cannot marry them at the same time, you have to let one go. What if you don’t want to let one go?”

Prior to Okey Bakassi’s assertion, fellow Nollywood actor, Uwaezuoke had during a recent interview claimed that it is a sin for a man to marry less than three women.

Speaking during the chat, he said, “It’s a sin to marry one or two wives. But if you marry three or four, you will be free from sin. If you marry one wife your life is at risk. The safety of the director is in the hands of the security. If you marry two wives, they will conspire to poison you.

“But if you marry three or more wives, they will all be on their own and you will only be providing for them. You will be taking turns with their meals and bedrooms.”
