It was jubilation and celebration all the way in Okeagbe as Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, elevated Ajana Afa of Okeagbe to first-class Monarch in the state.

This is in fulfilment of the governor’s campaign promise of restoring and upgrading Ajana Afa of Okeagbe to the rightful position as part of the efforts to meet the agitations of the people spanning many decades.

Okeagbe Akoko, the Headquarters of Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State has been without a First Class traditional ruler for decades even with the creation of the council.

Consequently, the community and the palace came alive as the natives and residents went into jubilation storming the palace.

While reacting to the elevation, the Ajana Afa of Okeagbe Akoko, Oba Oladunjoye Fajana, his Chiefs in Council and the entire community thanked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the gesture, describing the present government as a Rescue Administration which has decided to follow the wishes and yearnings of the people of the town.

“We are so happy with the elevation because traditional Institution remains a veritable partner in the development of the State particularly in peace and security.

“All community salute Mr Governor for his passion and commitment to the growth and development of the community. We are extremely grateful to God Almighty who made elevation possible and also grateful to the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, and members of his cabinets, and the entire people of Okeagbe who stood by us since the commencement of the struggle.

“We are assuring Mr Governor that the existing peace will continue alongside developmental projects”, they said.
