The remains of the Publicity Secretary of Pan-Yoruba Socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Comrade Yinka Odumakin, who died on April 2, at the age of 56 arrived his home State Osun on Friday for burial on Saturday, April 24.

A delegation of Osun State Government led by Chief of Staff to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Dr Charles Akinola, received the remains of the late Afenifere spokesman. Akinola was accompanied by ten members of the State cabinet.

The corpse was received around 2:10 pm at the Asejire area, the boundary between Osun and Oyo States.
Also, the Coalition of Osun Civil Society also received the remains at Gbongan Town, headquarters of Aiyedaade Local Government Area. The body was later taken to Moro for the Christian wake and candlelight procession.

Yinka Odumakin’s funeral service began on Thursday, April 22, with lying in the state held at Police College. His funeral rites kicked off with the service of song and tributes which was held at Police College, Ikeja, Lagos with tributes from eminent Nigerians who extolled his many virtues, amongst them are Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Speaker of the House of Representatives, RT. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Afenifere chieftains, civil society groups and representatives and sympathisers.

On Friday morning, April 23, 2021, Yinka’s remains left Lagos for his home town, Moro in Osun State where candlelight procession will be held in his honour at Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro.
On Saturday, April 24, 2021, his funeral will commence by 10am at same candlelight procession ground while his remains will thereafter be interred in a private ceremony.

It is greatly sympathetic that Yinka’s 115-year-old father, Pa Ezekiel Abioye Odumakin, and 92 year old mother Alice Ojuolape are alive mourning the death of their son.

TheNiche gathered that his mother Alice could not stop asking “why death didn’t take her and leave you here, while his aged father Ezekiel could not stop wishing this bad dream to end. ” Please shake me up from this bad dream”, Pa Ezekiel begged to visit the Afenifere team.
