God may have answered the prayer of the family of a nine year old gifted singer, who sells coconut presumably on the street of Owerri, Imo State capital.
Two separately recorded video of the boy appeared on the social media yesterday, June 20, while hawking his coconut and entertaining potential customers with sonorous Christian worship song.
The boy’s song was so touchy that two Nigeria’s former aviation ministers, Stella Oduah and Femi Fani-Kayode, separately offered to bankroll his education to university level and take him off the street.
The two former minsters quickly unleashed a search party to locate the boy.
“This amazing sonorous angel MUST be encouraged so I ask anyone that knows his whereabouts to help me locate him. A full scholarship and also classes at our Music School awaits him already,” Oduah said.
Fani-Kayode, who said the boy’s song moved him to tears, said he would give N250,000 instantly to the family and then pay his scholarship up to the university level.
“Again listen to him here. I simply cannot believe that this young boy has such an extraordinary voice and that he is singing such beautiful songs of praise to the Lord. Does anyone know his name and can anyone trace him? He is singing in Igbo so I assume he is in the south- east.
“Once I can confirm his identity and reach his family I will send N250, 000 to him and pay for his school fees right up until university level. I urge others to help him too. This talented, gifted and blessed child should NOT be hawking and selling things in the streets.
“I wish I knew what state he comes from and who his Governor is. Such talent must not be wasted. For the first time in days I have something to smile and be happy about. Despite his circumstances this boy is still praising God in such a beautiful way.
“He has brought tears of joy to my eyes. The Lord is faithful and He will never abandon or forsake this little boy that sings songs of praises to him,” he said.
If all the promises for the boy pull through, the coconut seller may just be another big superstar.
