Odeyemi dramatic stoppage time goal lifts 3SC over Kwara United

Shooting Stars FC

Odeyemi scored with the last kick of the match as 3SC defeated Kwara United 2-1 in the rescheduled MatchDay 8.

Ebenezer Odeyemi scored the winning goal in three minutes into added time to save Shooting Stars what would have amounted to revolt against Coach Edith Agoye on a day the team honoured their late General Manager, Rasheed Balogun with several memorial banners display. The goal also gifted the Ibadan side the needed three points to move up from the relegation zone.

It was a solo run by the lanky striker that resulted into the winning goal that gave the home team the much-desired victory and the three points at stake.

Speaking after the match, Agoye thanked his players for their commitment and dedication just as he said they deserved the win.

He said “Going down 1-0 at home, especially in the second half against a very strong team, Kwara United was not a good one as we felt the end had come but for the players who showed character in memory of our late General Manager.

“The players gave everything on the field of play to make sure the three points arrived at home and we are very grateful for that,” he said.

Odeyemi scored with the last kick of the match as 3SC defeated Kwara United 2-1 in the rescheduled MatchDay 8 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

It was only the second home win for Oluyole Warriors as they secured the maximum three points for their late General Manager, Mr Rasheed Balogun.

The  match had earlier seen both teams playing cautiously in the first half trying not to concede but with the home team terrorising the defence line of Kwara United and failing to have a breakthrough.

Kwara United striker, Alao Danbani opened the scoring for his side in the 60th minute when a Shooting Stars defender missed a clearance only for the visiting team to capitalise on the blunder to record their  only goal.

But 3SC Ayo Adejubu equalised 10th minutes after through a powerful grounder that caught Kwara United goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba napping.

For Coach Abdulahi Biffo of Kwara United, it was simply hard to believe

“We came here to get the three points but at the end of the 90th minute we were unable to get anything.

“I praise 3SC players, even when they were 1-0 down, you could see the zeal from them. I will blame myself and the players because we lost concentration towards the end where it mattered most. We lost it”, he lamented.
