Blessing Oborududu has won a gold medal for Team Nigeria at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The 33-year-old defeated Linda Morais in the 68kg women’s category final on Friday.
Oborududu is now a two-time Commonwealth Games Champion after also claiming gold in wrestling at the 2018 edition of the event.
Her compatriots Odunayo Adekuoroye had earlier won gold also in the wrestling event.
Adekuoroye won the medal gold in the Women’s 57kg Freestyle Wrestling after beating Anshu Malik of India.
The 2018 Commonwealth champion defeated her opponent 6-4 in the final to successfully defend the crown she won in Gold Coast four years ago.

En route to the final, the reigning African champion defeated Canada’s Hannah Taylor in the semis in a swashbuckling 10-0 victory.
The medal feat means Team Nigeria has won seven gold, two silvers and six bronze medals.
Meanwhile, Oborududu has picked a number of medals already this year.
She won the gold medal in the 68 kg event at the Yasar Dogu Tournament held in Istanbul, Turkey by beating her counterpart Meerim Zhumanazarova from Kyrgyzstan 3-2.
The Nigerian also won the gold medal in her event at the 2022 African Wrestling Championships held in El Jadida, Morocco. A month later, she won one of the bronze medals in her event at the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series 2022 held in Rome, Italy.
